Training » Management Coaching for Implementing Safe Work Practices
(Also referred to as DUE DILIGENCE)
There are two versions of this training available. The first is an instructor-facilitated look at the legal requirements placed on managers and supervisors, and how to comply with those requirements.
The second version is more theoretical and it was originally intended for senior management but it works for all management levels.
Management Coaching - 1 (4 hrs)
This course looks at the reason for the importance of the concept of "due diligence". It considers the law, and the idea of the internal responsibility system and the responsibilities of the workplace parties; who is a worker, a supervisor, or a manager; and at how supervisors and managers can carry out their responsibilities.
Supervisors are the most vulnerable to charges under the legislation and we look at what they need to do to protect themselves and what other benefits there are, like reducing costs by reducing accidents and injuries.
The course uses overheads, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and handouts for further reading.
Management Coaching - 2 (4 hrs)
This course includes comments and opinions from lawyers involved in Occupational Health and Safety. It considers:
- The fundamentals, including accident causation models.
- The duties of the parties.
- The meaning of Due Diligence.
- The Occupational Health and Safety "system."
- Auditing the system.
The course is based on a video and workbook with instructor guided discussion.
